The summer bus is coming back
Mangawhai's popular Summer Bus is back and could be better than ever this season!
For the first time, Kaipara District Council (KDC) is seeking local sponsors to enable the bus to run daily until after Waitangi weekend.
Thousands of visitors descend on Mangawhai every summer. A free summer bus service in Mangawhai has operated for five years and was one of a number of initiatives to ease congestion and take pressure off carparking hotspots during the peak summer weeks. Use of the bus has grown year on year with more people ditching the car and enjoying a hassle-free ride around town. Feedback from the community consistently asks for the bus to run for longer through the summer and later into the evening.
Seeking sponsorship for the summer bus
To meet demand for the bus to run longer and later, KDC is seeking sponsorship from local businesses to offset the additional costs.
Sponsorship will see the bus running daily from 10am to 6.30pm until 9 February. The service will also be available on Easter weekend.

Get on board! The Mangawhai Summer Bus is distinctive and recognisable – our annual summer bus survey consistently shows that "I saw the bus" is the main way people know about the bus.
This is a great opportunity to support your community and increase your brand presence all around town in the busy summer period.
We are offering a limited number of sponsors the opportunity to get their brand on the bus, with perforated decals on the bus windows. We will also acknowledge our sponsors names and logos on our website, and in promotional material where space allows.
Sponsorship packages:
- $1,500 for a half-window decal (approximately 700mm x 350mm) excl GST
- $2,500 for a full-window decal (approximately 700mm x 700mm) excl GST
Sponsors will also have the option to display DL sized brochures on the bus which promote the sponsoring business (not product)
Please note, there are a limited number of windows on the shuttle bus, thus a limited number of promotional spaces for our sponsors. If there is significant interest in sponsorship, some businesses may miss out. We will be happy to discuss other opportunities for sponsorship with you, should this be the case.
What’s next?
If you are interested in being a sponsor for the 2024-25 Mangawhai Summer Bus, please complete the sponsorship application form by the end of the day, Sunday 24 November 2024. We will be in touch with all applicants shortly after this date.
Note: The sponsorship agreement will be applicable until the end of 09 February 2025, and the logo decals (and promotional material) will be removed after this, due to the bus providing a school bus service locally the rest of the year. The sponsorship will not roll over to the following service.
