Pool owners are required to keep residential swimming pools and or small heated pools* safe.
Depending on the type of your residential pool, you may need a building consent for your pool, pool barrier or both.

Once you have determined what you need consent for and are ready to lodge your building consent you will need to provide us with the following:
- Completed building consent application
- Record of Title (and a Sale and Purchase Agreement if the property is a recent purchase and you are not yet named on the Record of Title) and full copy of all consent notices as listed on the Record of Title
- Geotech report or ground bearing report, whichever is applicable (you may have a recent report with a prior building consent application)
- A site plan including site and land information site coverage and impermeable surface calculations, proposed earthworks calculation, boundary setback distances etc
- Pool construction details, back flow location and type
- Engineers verification where applicable for pool and fencing
- Pool fencing and gate latch manufacturer specifications.
*Small heated pools includes hot tubs and spa pools
